Where to get help when we are shut.
Pharmacy Scheme
If you need help with your medicines, pharmacists can offer advice on the safe use of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. They can also prescribe the morning after pill, and can offer support under the minor ailment scheme.
Many pharmacies offer the minor ailment scheme which can advise and treat common illnesses as listed below; please check with your chosen pharmacist to ensure that they provide this service before attending.
Backache, sprains and strains | haemorrhoids | minor fungal infections of the skin |
colds | hay fever | mouth ulcers |
conjunctivitis | head lice | nappy rash |
constipation | headache and fever | sore throat |
coughs | heartburn and indigestion | teething |
diarrhoea | insect bites and stings | threadworm |
earache | mild eczema and dermatitis | thrush |
Out of hours
The practice works closely with the Sheffield GP Collaborative who along with 111, provide cover to our surgery outside normal working hours. If you have an urgent problem when we are shut, ring our number as normal and you will either be directed to the collaborative service or told that you need to ring the national 111 service.
Walk In Centre
There is also a walk in centre in the city centre on Broad Lane. It operates a sit-and-wait service where you will be seen for urgent GP problems.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
